Cicadas

This is a short post, but I am fascinated by the cicadas! They LOVE our elm that is out back. They are all over it. And I have now learned that cicadas turn brown after they come out of their shells. I was convinced that I had found an albino.

Another side note, much to my happiness, my uncle has trimmed several of our trees, meaning I might be able to mow without getting all scraped up!

  3. @Bethany

Yes, I mow the lawn. I really enjoy it. I wasn't the one who changed the background this time, I think Payton might have. There is a story behind the title. Maybe you can convince someone to tell it...!

  4. I really enjoy mowing the lawn also! It's a lot of fun, in my opinion.

Ah, so it was you, Will, who changed the background?! Would someone PLEASE tell me why you changed it?! I would really enjoy hearing :)

  5. I did change it John.... As for the story.... We might have to post it sometime, but I'll tell you right now here.

We were dipping about 200 strawberries in chocolate for a baby shower and we decided to wash them... The Chocolate globs up if any wetness gets into it. So we had to dry ALL the strawberries. But we forgot to wash one package of strawberries... then Shiloh made the following statement:

"The Ones we didn't wet aren't wet."

That was slightly obvious... So we have teased Shiloh about it ever since.

    :) Have a great week.

Rainy Day Fun

Yesterday it rained hard for a while and the bottom of our street was pleasantly 'splashy'  We took our umbrellas   and took off our shoes and had a grand time soaking each other by splashing with our feet. We would run up and down the street making great waves that soaked the person in front of you.   Then Shiloh joined the fun!  Even though she didn't have a change of clothes.  (You are such a good sport!)  :)  It was so fun until our neighbor started slowing down as he passed by us...  We thought for sure he was going to tell us to stop.... but he backed up and sped by us spraying us with a huge cold wave!!!  Then he came around and did it again!  I guess not all our neighbor are too old for a little rainy day fun! After we were done we walked home holding our umbrellas above our heads, even though we were soaked to the bone.  :) Fun times!

Chocolate

I really have no idea what possessed me to do this extremely random post, but that is ok. I love chocolate, so I thought I would give a brief discussion on chocolate. First, chocolate is a dietary staple. It should be kept in a house at any given time, and most definitely should be kept in emergency kits! What could be worse than using an emergency kit, only to discover it has no chocolate? Second, when it is being stored in a house, while is is waiting to be eaten, it should be kept flat. If it kept on its side, when it gets too hot, it all oozes together to make a very unappetizing mass. When it is kept flat, it doesn't matter if it gets melty because it will keep its shape! Thirdly, take care to make sure that chocolate does not run out! It is a disaster to want chocolate, only to realize that there is none to be found. Lastly, dark chocolate is the best, especially if is truffle filled. milk chocolate is fine, but not half as good as dark, and white chocolate has...
