A long-overdue new post

Well, in case anyone wondered...we are all still alive! A lot has happened in the intervening !decade! I (Shiloh) live in Kansas City. I am an ultrasound technologist at Ku Med and have two dogs.  I only remembered this blog when going through my email to delete old emails. I old email notifications and decided to see if it still existed. Sure enough, there it was - alive and well - but deeply neglected.

Bad Payton!

Payton is being very very Bad! She is pretending to like the Yankees when she actually doesn't! And to make matters worse, she continues to hijack a pro-cardinals blog and turn it into a pro-yankees one. Bad Payton! =)

We all love the Yankees!

Don't we Shiloh?  Down with the St. Louis Cardinals!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yankees......Yankees......Yankees......Yankees......Yankees......Yankees......Yankees......Yankees......Yankees......Yankees......Yankees......Yankees......Yankees......Yankees......Yankees......Yankees......Yankees......Yankees......Yankees......Yankees......Yankees......Yankees......Yankees......Yankees......Yankees......Yankees......Yankees......Yankees......Yankees......Yankees......Yankees......Yankees......Yankees......Yankees......Yankees......Yankees......Yankees......Yankees......Yankees......Yankees......Yankees......Yankees......Yankees......Yankees......Yankees......Yankees......Yankees......Yankees......Yankees......Yankees......Yankees......Yankees......Yankees......Yankees......Yankees......Yankees......Yankees......Yankees......Yankees......Yankees......Yankees......Yankees......Yankees......Yankees......Yankees......Yankees......Yankees......Yankees......Yankees......Yanke...

Its been a while!

Our poor blog has been waiting patiently for someone to remember its existence! Poor thing. Just for the sake of putting something on here, I will discuss halloween. I went over to the Stitzers' because my mom was gone. We all wore mexican hats and played Spanish songs and ate candy! When Gracie, er, I mean Cleopatra came back, she graciously shared her profits with us! I think that is all. I might do a more informative post later, but maybe now that it has been resurrected, it will get more attention!

Rainy Day Fun

Yesterday it rained hard for a while and the bottom of our street was pleasantly 'splashy'  We took our umbrellas   and took off our shoes and had a grand time soaking each other by splashing with our feet. We would run up and down the street making great waves that soaked the person in front of you.   Then Shiloh joined the fun!  Even though she didn't have a change of clothes.  (You are such a good sport!)  :)  It was so fun until our neighbor started slowing down as he passed by us...  We thought for sure he was going to tell us to stop.... but he backed up and sped by us spraying us with a huge cold wave!!!  Then he came around and did it again!  I guess not all our neighbor are too old for a little rainy day fun! After we were done we walked home holding our umbrellas above our heads, even though we were soaked to the bone.  :) Fun times!

Chocolate

I really have no idea what possessed me to do this extremely random post, but that is ok. I love chocolate, so I thought I would give a brief discussion on chocolate. First, chocolate is a dietary staple. It should be kept in a house at any given time, and most definitely should be kept in emergency kits! What could be worse than using an emergency kit, only to discover it has no chocolate? Second, when it is being stored in a house, while is is waiting to be eaten, it should be kept flat. If it kept on its side, when it gets too hot, it all oozes together to make a very unappetizing mass. When it is kept flat, it doesn't matter if it gets melty because it will keep its shape! Thirdly, take care to make sure that chocolate does not run out! It is a disaster to want chocolate, only to realize that there is none to be found. Lastly, dark chocolate is the best, especially if is truffle filled. milk chocolate is fine, but not half as good as dark, and white chocolate has...

Goodbye braces!

Today I got my braces off...  :D  Shiloh was so kind to be our human GPS.... ~ Thank you!!!  ~ ~Was it weird to eat without them Shiloh???~ :D  :D  ;D ~Payton

We have Fishies!!!

They are cute, Shiloh you can name yours and change it's color if you want.  Mine is Black and Kylie's is white.  Yours is red right now. Mine's name is 'Chowder.'  Kylie's fish is named 'Fillet'  We thought that 'Fry' was a cute name, but you don't have to name yours that if you don't want to. Now I'd like to say 'Welcome home mari choti machli!' (My little fish)

Wedding Adventure

I just wrote to a friend how John and Elizabeth's wedding went, and I didn't feel like retyping it so I thought I'd just copy and paste it here.  Our little adventure that if left up to Kylie and Shiloh would never be shared!  ;) Mom was at the church decorating and doesn't have a cellphone, we were going to ride with Shiloh.  All went well and Shiloh picked us up and dropped Kylie off at the church, Gracie and I stayed in the car with Shiloh to pick up Gaya (The Sri Lanka Girl)  because she had never been to an american wedding.  We got to her house in enough time to get back to the church before the wedding started....  but when Gaya got in the car wouldn't start.  And Gaya doesn't have a car!  Shiloh's car had overheated, or it was the battery, I don't know for sure which one.  We popped the hood and all of us girls in our dresses tried to do something to revive the car...  At one point we were fanning it with Shiloh's sweater and h...

Stuff you didn't know you didn't know!

I got this forward and thought it was funny.... Stuff you didn't know you didn't know!   ------------ --------- --------- --------- ----  Every day more money is printed for Monopoly than the  U.S.   Treasury. ------------ -- ------------ --------- -------- Men can read smaller print than women can; women can hear better.  ------------ --------- --------- --------- ---- Coca-Cola was originally green. ------------ --------- --------- --------- ---- It is impossible to lick your elbow.  ------------ --------- --------- --------- ---- The State with the highest percentage of people who walk to work:   Alaska   ------------ --------- --------- --------- ---- The percentage of Africa that is wilderness: 28% (now get this...) ------------ --------- --------- --------- ----  The percentage of North America that is wilderness: 38%  ------------ --------- --- ------ --------- ----...

Nothing in particular

There is really no news to report. On what seems to be a now distant last weekend, there was a wedding that went fine, along with a few other incidents, but since then it has been pretty quiet (illness excluded.) What it has been is very very hot. I think this is the hottest I can remember it being. I went to the pool on Wednesday and was happily surprised by how warm the water was. First time it has felt good all Summer! Well that is all I have to not report, I pretty well made this post contain absolutely nothing!

Tornado? Storm?

Maybe Ky has already asked you, but here I go anyway.... Was the big storm that set of the tornado alarm a tornado or not?  I'm super confused! Katherine was over so she had to get into the basement with us, and that happens to be my room....  Soooooo  she now knows that I am not the cleanest girl in K-ville.....  I was super embarrassed.... and poor dad!  He was sleeping so mom woke him up telling him to get in the basement, so he stumbles out without a shirt on not knowing Katherine was here!  poor girl!   After we all were settled in my room and dad had a shirt on the lights went out and we all started thinking about the 20 (I think that's how many)  Cheesecakes in our freezer for the upcoming wedding!  We weren't really worried about them, we just were thinking that it we got trapped in the basement we would have first-class food to eat!   Unfortunately though, we didn't get to eat them.  All is fine at our house,...

WE HAVE PICTURES!!!

Beware Kylie!  I just got done looking through them...  I don't know exactly how to post them now....  Soooo.....  I'll wait for Shiloh to look at them here, and maybe she can tell me since I know you won't Kylie....  :)  They are super cute!  (Oh by the way I'm talking about wedding pictures.) Kylie is posing in one!  She NEVER does that! Well, that's about all now..... ~Payton

I do (well I didn't)

There has been no shortage of activity this past week! The big event was a wedding that all members of the S Squad had some part in, which made for lot of fun! Right? Friday was preparation day. Decorating the few things that were on the list, which amounted to the window and the gift table. That was Dawn's job, and she made it look wonderful! After decorating came cheese chopping, grape washing and counting, and olive rinsing. Somewhere in there was working out logistics, which my brain seemed to be in some place other than the building at that point in time, but in the end we got it all figured out! There was a few hours break in there, and then it was off to the rehearsal, which went off without a hitch. After Friday comes Saturday, the big day. We started by making oodles and oodles of olive, pepperoni and fruit shish-kabobs, and then lots of fruit shish-kabobs. I think I liked the first ones better, they weren't wet and juicy. After a few hours to make last preparatio...

Story Anyone?

You all are probably groaning expecting a 100 page story of mine, but I just wanted to share one a friend shared with me.... It reminds me of helping with functions....  Then mom comes and everybody does what they're supposed to. There once were four people named Everybody, Anybody, Somebody, and Nobody. An important job had to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it. Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it. Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody’s job. Everybody thought Anybody could do it and that Somebody would do it. But Nobody realized that Everybody thought Somebody would do it. It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

Cicadas

This is a short post, but I am fascinated by the cicadas! They LOVE our elm that is out back. They are all over it. And I have now learned that cicadas turn brown after they come out of their shells. I was convinced that I had found an albino. Another side note, much to my happiness, my uncle has trimmed several of our trees, meaning I might be able to mow without getting all scraped up! Shiloh
